Backstage Block Party final concert Saturday

SIDNEY — After a hosting the summer concerts series, the collaborative efforts of Raise the Roof for the Arts and Sidney Alive is coming to an end – that is, after one last concert.

Blessid Union of Souls, the alternative rock, double platinum winning group is slated to headline the final Backstage Block Party concert Saturday, Aug. 26. The outdoor event will also include opening acts by Ohio native Jared Mahone and a local group, Hey There Morgan, who recently performed at the Downtown Sidney’s BBQ Fest. The concert is held outdoors, in the parking lot located behind The Historic Sidney Theatre and the Sidney Post Office. Gate opens at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment beginning at 7 p.m.

“We are thrilled by the local response and attendance at the concert series,” said Sarah Barr, Director of the Historic Sidney Theatre. “It’s always been our goal to bring quality events to the Sidney area and bringing musicians to downtown Sidney has been a huge success for us this summer.”

In addition to the live music at the concert, food trucks and alcoholic beverages will be available for sale at the event. The concert is free to the public.

Community sponsors of the concert series have been the city of Sidney, Wilson Health, Airstream, Sidney Body Carstar, Lochards Inc., TAMFM, Western Ohio Cut Stone, Westerheide Construction, Edison State Community College, Frickers and Lowes Home Improvement.

“Together we can define who we are and what we want to be for future generations,” said Barr.
