BOTKINS – Shelby County Libraries, in collaboration with the Louise Sheets Grant of the Community Foundation of Shelby County, has announced the addition of a brand new, permanent StoryWalk. The StoryWalk is located in the North Woods at the Botkins Community Park, located along Interstat 75 in the village of Botkins.

The grand opening is set for Aug. 10 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to join for remarks from Executive Director, Suzanne Cline of Shelby County Libraries, free goodies bags (while supplies last) and enjoy the first StoryWalk®.

StoryWalk is an innovative and delightful way for children — and adults! — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. The activity combines exercise and reading to further enhance health and literacy in children and adults. StoryWalk® is a free activity for all, that is accessible during normal park hours. This will be the third StoryWalk installed in Shelby County, with 2 others at Tawawa Park, in Sidney and Renner Sanctuary in Hardin.

The StoryWalk was funded with the Louise Sheets Grant of the Community Foundation of Shelby County. The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont, and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk is a registered service mark owned by Ferguson.

The Shelby County Libraries services the entire county through six convenient locations, in Anna, Botkins, Fort Loramie, Jackson Center, Russia and Sidney. Each location provides library services as well as resources and programs for all ages, enriching lives through continuous learning.
