A total of 556 vehicles were checked driving through the checkpoint between 8 and 10 p.m. Friday. One arrest was made for drug possession during the checkpoint. There were no arrests made for OVI during the checkpoint.

In addition to the checkpoint, troopers and officers from the Tipp City Police Department and the Miami County Sheriff’s Office were conducting saturation patrol in the area from 8 p.m. Friday night until 3 a.m. on Saturday morning. Thirty-five traffic contacts were made during this time frame. There were three arrests for impaired driving made during saturation patrols.

“At the end of the evening, our ultimate goal is just to educate motorists to do the right thing and make other arrangements if they are going to consume alcohol,” said Lt.
