SIDNEY — Shelby County Probate/Juvenile Court Judge Jeffrey J. Beigel announced he will be hosting two continuing education broadcasts on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

The three-hour education course is designed for persons who have been appointed by the Probate Court to serve as a guardian for an adult person who is unable to make decisions for themselves due to mental impairment. The guardian education requirements, which include a fundamentals course and annual continuing education, are outlined under Ohio’s Rules of Superintendence.

The broadcasts are provided by The Supreme Court of Ohio and are free of charge. The morning broadcast on Oct. 10 is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. to noon, and the afternoon broadcast is from 1 to 4:15 p.m., and will be held at the Sidney Police Department in the second floor conference room. The broadcast topic is Medications and Medical advocacy. Any guardian that would like to register for one of the Oct. 10 continuing education broadcasts may do so by contacting The Supreme Court of Ohio at 614-387-9445 or by registering online at OhioCourtEDU (https://sco.csod.com).

A guardian who is required to attend the six-hour fundamentals course can also register through The Supreme Court; the fundamentals course is available online and at various broadcast sites across the state.

Beigel said he is looking forward to meeting guardians on Oct. 10, and encourages as many guardians as possible to come to the broadcast to receive beneficial information and instruction.
