JACKSON CENTER — A Jackson Center garage fire that occurred Wednesday evening is under investigation.

Jackson Center Fire Chief Jerry Davis said the fire originated in a vehicle in a garage that was attached to a two-family duplex, located at 218 Robb St., Apt. B, and then spread to the garage. The main body of the fire was contained to the garage, he said, because the occupant of the home shut the door leading into the home.

There was minimum smoke and water damage inside of the duplex.

Jackson Center Fire Department responded to the fire at 9:44 p.m. with the mutual aid of Anna, Botkins and Van Buren Township Fire Departments. Jackson Center Police Department and Anna Recuse also responded to the scene. The Jackson Center electric department responded to secure the electricity.

The American Red Cross was also called in to assist the four people displaced by the fire, Davis said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The damage amount is unknown at this time.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters during the incident.
