PORT JEFFERSON — The 2015 Charles Gillespie Memorial Poker Run and Hog roast raised $8,580 in August.

The 11th annual event was coordinated by Chris and Kurt Gillespie, who established it in 2005 to honor their father, who died in 2004.

Three hundred cyclists participated in the poker run. Another 200 people enjoyed the hog roast, motorcycle rodeo, 50/50 drawing, gun raffle, auction and music by Bear Necessities and Strategy that followed at the residence of Curt Hughes in Houston.

Proceeds of the event were awarded as $2,860 grants to Shelby County Veterans, Shelby County Special Olympics and the Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation.

The 2016 Charles Gillespie Memorial Poker Run and Hog Roast has been scheduled for Aug. 20.
