Kiwanis Club hears reports

SIDNEY — Members of the Kiwanis Club of Sidney heard reports during their Oct. 14 meeting about various donations the club had made during the last year.

Immediate Past President John Coffield gave a brief summary of the past administrative year. Fundraisers were up more than $4,000 from what was budgeted. This allowed the club to donate more than $23,000 to various causes. More than $13,000 in scholarships were awarded, $1,000 was given to the Imagination Library, $2,000 was donated to the Library Building Fund, $1,200 in food was donated to the four food pantries, $1,000 to the New Choices capital campaign, more than $1,000 for the Teen of the Month program and $1,000 to the Eliminate project.

Coffield presented Scott Smith with the New Member of the Year Award. Rick Lunsford and Jake Romaker shared the Committee Chairman of the Year Award, and Ed Ball was named Kiwanian of the Year.

Ball presented a Past President’s plaque to Coffield for his term as the 2014-2015 club president.

Bill Zimmerman introduced Aaron Jensen as the first Teen of the Month for the 2015-2016 school year. Jensen is ranked number one in his class at Sidney High School. He was presented a plaque and a check for $100.
