ANNA — Eight fire departments battled a fire Tuesday morning that destroyed a home at 8418 Fort Loramie Swanders Road.
According to a spokesperson for the Fort Loramie Fire Department, firefighters were paged to the fire before 6 a.m. Tuesday. No one was home at the time of the fire, he said, as the residents were at work.
Fort Loramie Fire, which was the lead agency in the battle, was assisted by Minster, New Bremen, Russia, Houston, Sidney, Anna and Kettlersville/Van Buren Township fire departments. Fort Loramie Rescue was also at the scene. More than 60 firefighters battled the fire.
Firefighters were able to get water from a nearby pond to replenish the trucks while they fought the fire.
One pet dog was lost in the fire. There were no injuries to firefighters.
The cause of the fire hadn’t been determined at press time. The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted. The dollar amount of the fire hasn’t been established.
The American Red Cross has been contacted to provide assistance to the family.
