LOCKINGTON — Lockington Village Council at its Oct. 19 meeting passed a resolution to proceed with a request for renewal of a tax levy for fire protection.

The levy, which will be on the March 2016 primary ballot, will be a renewal of the fire levy that is expiring this year Fiscal Officer Vanessa Petty said.

In other business, council urged residents to vote for the electric aggregation issue on the Nov. 3 ballot and said it is seeking residents to fill upcoming vacancies on council.

There will be an electric aggregation proposal on the Nov. 3 ballot for residents to vote on. Council feels that passage would be very beneficial to village residents by reducing their electric bills in the future.

Council seat 6 has been vacant all of this year. It was learned that council seat 5 will become vacant after the Nov. 16 meeting and council seat 4 will become vacant after the Dec. 21 meeting due to resignations of those council members. Anyone who is a resident of the village and is interested in being appointed to any of these vacant seats should attend one of the next meetings or contact Mayor Jerry Keener.
