SIDNEY — The city of Sidney will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its wastewater treatment plant expansion project Friday, Nov. 6.

The event will be held at the plant at 1091 Children’s Home Road at 11 a.m.

According to information on the city’s website, improvements will include a minor increase in treatment capacity and modifications to the disinfection process. Sidney has applied for approximately $12 million from the Ohio Water Pollution Control Loan Fund for this project that will provide disinfection as required by the city’s operating permit, increase treatment capacity from 13.5 million gallons per day to 16 million gallons per day, make required safety and reliability improvements and provide backup generation for the full treatment process. Construction is estimated to be completed in the spring of 2017.
