NEW BREMEN — Incumbent Scott Bertke and newcomer Cory Suchland were elected Tuesday to the New Bremen Board of Education.

In a race against three other candidates, they garnered the most votes in an election with almost perfect bell-curve results.

Bertke was the top vote-getter with 802 ballots cast for him. Suchland won 744 votes.

The losing candidates were Kyle Schmiesing with 464 votes; Dana Blanchard, with 308 votes; and Bruce M. Spragg with 291 votes.

“I feel honored that the voters trust me to make decisions for them and look forward to representing them to keep our school on the right path,” Bertke told the Sidney Daily News Tuesday night.

When Schmiesing was asked if he might run again in a future election, he would not comment.

“I’d rather not say at this time,” he said.

Suchland, Blanchard and Spragg could not be reached for comment.
