ST. MARYS — The JTD Hospital Foundation is now offering those who are interested in building a career in healthcare the opportunity to apply for a nursing scholarship.

Each year, the foundation gives scholarships to worthy individuals who are interested in pursuing a nursing career. To date, over $221,000 in scholarships have been awarded to outstanding area students.

The JTD Hospital Foundation will be offering two $1,000 scholarships to local residents studying nursing for the 2018-2019 academic year. Both scholarships are held by the JTD Hospital Foundation.

The Landen Phlipot Nursing Scholarship is a new scholarship established in 2015. This new scholarship opportunity is offered in memory of Landen Phlipot, son of Joey and Jessica Phlipot. Landen passed away at less than 3 months of age from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

It is through the support of family, friends, generous sponsors, Grand Lake Health System employees, the annual Landen’s 5K, and the community that the Landen Phlipot Scholarship has been made available.

To be eligible for these scholarships, the individual must be a high school senior, current college student or adult returning to school who is a resident of Auglaize or Mercer counties or graduate of a high school in those counties. Joint Township Hospital and Grand Lake Health System employees are not eligible. Final applicants will be chosen and must be available for interview on Saturday, June 9, between 9 a.m. and noon.

Applications must be made on-line at https://www.grandlakehealth.org/about-us/foundation/nursing-scholarship-application.html and submitted electronically by April 27, 2018. For more information, call 419-394-3335, ext. 3567. The Foundation is the fund raising arm of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
