Field day planned for Oct. 2

CELINA — Mercer County Ag Solutions, Soil and Water Conservation District, OSU-Extension and Farm Bureau are hosting a “Data in Agriculture and Manure Application Field Day” on Oct. 2. The event will begin at 11 a.m. with a free lunch to all attendees who RSVP.

At 12:15 p.m., Dr. John Fulton with OSU will give a presentation on Date in Agriculture. Theresa Dirksen, Ag Solutions coordinator, will give a brief overview and results of a local soil health data project.

At 1:15 p.m., Dr. Harold Watters with OSU will give a presentation on the updates to the Tri-state Fertility Guide. The first session will be held at St. Charles Center, 2860 US Route 127, Celina.

From 2 to 4 p.m., the event will head to the field at the southeast corner of state Route 274 and Cassella Montezuma Road for field demonstrations. Attendees will be able to see several demonstrations, including a manure tanker and toolbar, precision nutrient application equipment, an unmanned aerial vehicle and more.

Three Certified Livestock Manager (CLM) credit hours and two Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) hours are being offered to attendees of the event. The person must sign in and out of the event to receive credit.
