SIDNEY Amanda Hurley has joined the Shelby Soil and Water Conservation District as its education and outreach coordinator. She will be responsible for providing educational programs about conservation to youth and adults and engaging in community outreach in Shelby County.

Hurley is a graduate of Heidelberg University with a degree in biology. She previously worked as a nurse practitioner. Amanda has always enjoyed nature, science and learning new things and is excited about her new career change. She looks forward to collaborating with many local and state organizations, initiating educational activities at schools and interacting with community members of Shelby County.

The district is eager to have the education and outreach coordinator position occupied as it has been vacant for the past two years. With the addition of Hurley, the district is hoping to grow the conservation education opportunities available to the community.
