BOTKINS — Jenny’s Designs, 305 E. State St., will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a Christmas open house, Nov. 13-15.

Jenny Guisinger open the store, which features flowers and gifts, in the basement of her home in 1990. She had been designing flower arrangements from the time she left high school and got a job at Hayden’s Gifts and Flowers in Columbus Grove. She then worked for Erharts Flower Shop in Sidney.

By 1990, she was married and the mother of a son. The part-time business quickly grew into full time and the flowers and gifts threatened to overrun the Guisinger house. In 1993, she and her husband, Rob, purchased the building on E. State Street and the business has flourished there ever since.

“All I can say is time does fly when you are having fun. It’s been a good career for me,” Guisinger said. “I have seen lots of changes over the years. We added engraving services (and Internet sales).”

The shop also handles funeral arrangements and prom and wedding flowers.

“With my husband encouragement and backing, we two alone were pretty much able to start this small business with lots of hard work and a desire to succeed,” Guisinger said. “Each week as we made a profit, we took the profits and invested it into more inventory to sell. It does indeed feel good to be celebrating 25 years. My customers are the main ingedient for our success.”
