ST. MARYS — The JTD Hospital Foundation has announced that the Mercer Health Care Fund held by Mercer Civic Foundation has contributed $8,000 toward a new family waiting area and for the new ambulatory surgery center at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

This family waiting area comfortably seats 46 individuals, in a 920-square-foot area on the hospital’s first floor. The waiting area is a centralized area for patients needing surgical and radiological procedures, as well as outpatient health appointments. The furniture is comfortable and the environment calming. Technology access provides for TV, laptop connectivity, and there will soon be a smart board to track a family member’s progress through the phases of surgery. The ramily waiting area is part of a $3 million major surgical renovation completed at the hospital.

Linda Haines, executive director of JTD Hospital Foundation, said, “We are so appreciative of the continued support from the Mercer Health Care Foundation. This gift for the family waiting area allows us to continue to care for the comfort of our patients and families.”
