Welding camp for teens

LIMA — Rhodes State College, the West Central Ohio Manufacturing Consortium and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership will offer Youth Welding Boot Camp, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., from July 28 through Aug. 25 at the college in Lima.

The camp is open to people 15 to 18. The fee is $300.

Participants will gain skills in stick, MIG and TIG welding. They will learn how welds are inspected, what type of quality acceptance criteria is associated with each type of weld and commonly used welding symbols.

The course also teaches safety, shielded metal arc welding commonly known as stick welding, gas metal arc welding commonly called MIG welding and gas tungsten arc welding commonly called TIG welding.
