BOTKINS — Buckeye Electrical Products, located in Botkins, has again experienced significant growth in 2019. Buckeye Electrical specializes in manufacturing custom electrical assemblies for various applications and customers.

“Our products are utilized in fields such as commercial, entertainment, medical, recreational, and military. These products can range from wire harnesses and custom box builds to coils and printed circuit boards,” said President Kevin Platfoot.

His report continues:

Founder of Buckeye Electrical, Dick Platfoot, announced he has retired from the company at the end of 2019. He appointed his son Kevin Platfoot as president of the company. Dick began his business endeavor in 1995 by forming a company at his home that specialized in coil winding. After years of growth and a couple of name changes, Platfoot landed on the name Buckeye Electrical Products in 2011. In 2013, Buckeye Electrical became the first business to move into the Industrial Park in Botkins. Everyone at Buckeye Electrical would like to thank Dick for his years of tireless dedication to the well-being of the company, and wishes him all the best in retirement.

Additionally this year, Buckeye Electrical is excited to announce that it plans to expand its production facility again for the third time since it was originally built at the current location in 2013.

The existing building, located in the Botkins Industrial Park, offers 18,000 square feet. We have recently acquired additional land from the village, and we expect to begin construction on a 12,000 square foot expansion sometime this year. This will almost double our current capacity, and will allow for further growth in the years to come.

We are anticipating similar growth for 2020. Everyone in the industry and even across different industries seem to be busting at the seams, and we hope that trend continues throughout the next year. It’s been a remarkable thing to watch manufacturing thrive the way it has, not only inside our community, but the surrounding areas as well. We currently employ about 45 employees, and we plan to hire an additional four to five this year to meet the growing demands of our customers. Our clean, quiet, and comfortable facility, as well as our schedule flexibility and family-business mentality, makes our company a great alternative for those not wanting or not able to work in a factory setting.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers and employees for all of their contribution to our success. Our customers have given us some incredible opportunities, and we’ve been able to find a way to make it happen. We are also very thankful for our entire staff, as they all deserve recognition for all of their hard work throughout the past year.

Buckeye Electrical strives to provide our customers with the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices, and we are looking forward to additional growth in the coming year.
