BOTKINS — Buckeye Electrical Products, located in Botkins, has again experienced growth despite the challenges and uncertainty of 2020. Buckeye Electrical specializes in manufacturing custom electrical assemblies for various applications and customers.
“Our products are utilized in fields such as commercial, entertainment, medical, recreational, and military. These products can range from wire harnesses and custom box builds to coils and battery cables,” said Kevin Platfoot, president.

We certainly faced some new challenges this past year, but we were able to get through it. For several months, it was very difficult to configure our production schedule around the sporadic quarantines from contact tracing. There were some instances where individuals had to quarantine multiple times due to different relatives getting COVID. There was just no way to plan for that.
Another challenge that we faced, particularly towards the end of the year, was supply chain issues. We were very fortunate that we only had about six weeks of major disruption in our production schedule. After that, we exceeded my expectations as far as how strong the year ended, given all of the outside variables beyond our control. Between our suppliers dealing with COVID-related challenges, as well as the general uptick of demand across our industry, it was challenging at times trying to navigate the logistics of getting the necessary inventory on time.
Additionally for 2020, Buckeye Electrical is excited to announce that it has completed and moved into its latest expansion in the fall. Prior to the move, Buckeye Electrical operated in an 18,000 square foot facility. The newest addition tacked on an extra 12,000 square feet of manufacturing floor space, bringing the new facility total to 30,000 square feet. This will allow Buckeye Electrical to sustain current and future growth in the coming years.
We are optimistic about our ability to grow again in 2021. With that growth comes additional opportunities for employment. Our clean, quiet, and comfortable facility, as well as our schedule flexibility and family-business mentality, makes our company a great alternative for those not wanting or not able to work in a factory setting.
