Eikenberry Retirement Planning has new ownership

SIDNEY – 2020 was a transitional year for many Americans, and the staff at Eikenberry Retirement Planning are no exception. The dynamic nature of the US economy provided some incredibly high highs and some dramatically low lows in the year 2020. It was another year in which the firm was happy to help its clients in the community navigate their financial futures and retirement plans.

It was also transitional for the fact that Eikenberry Retirement Planning is under new ownership for the first time in more than 40 years. In April 2020, John Eikenberry sold the firm to Nicholas Boeckman, CFP. Nick had worked for John for eight years, and he is excited for the opportunity to continue John’s mission with tireless support of retirees in our local community.

“We have been preparing for this transition for a few years now. It has been a pleasure to have John’s support through this transitional period, and he has continued to work here in the office to ensure that it is a smooth transition and the clients are comfortable with everything,” Boeckman said.

“With that said, I’m also extremely excited for 2021 and the opportunity to move Eikenberry Retirement Planning into the future. I think 2020 taught us a lot about the need to continually educate our clients as the financial world continues to move with never-before-seen pace and volatility. Financial education and service are two of the most important things that we can provide for our community,” Boeckman continued.

The education aspect of Eikenberry Retirement Planning was certainly impacted by COVID-19 restrictions and forced us to adapt. In last year’s progress issue, we had highlighted our partnership with The PREPARE Institute in order to provide two-night retirement education courses. Most of those courses were canceled due to closures at the venues and large-scale shutdowns.

Adviser Luke Bertke said, “We hope to see some sort of return to normal with our PREPARE Institute® classes in 2021. We are exploring ways to offer the class virtually if that is what is required. But, to us, there is no substitute for the useful knowledge offered in this course, and we can’t wait to begin instructing again.”

Bertke continued, “Now more than ever, I think it is important to be aware of the inner-workings of your retirement portfolio. Some things that used to be secure investments are no longer as secure as they seem. And some investments that seemed like no-brainers took a beating in first quarter of 2020. So, it is important for us to continue to offer these educational courses and provide the necessary service for our local retirees to succeed in 2021 and beyond.”

We are looking forward to a great year in 2021! If you would like to learn more about these classes or have questions, you can reach us through our website at www.eikenberryretirement.com, email us at [email protected], or call us at 937-498-1128.
