PHILADELPHIA — Pet Valu, a specialty retailer of premium pet food, treats, toys and accessories, facilitated the adoptions of 927 pets and raised $510,400 in monetary and product donations during its fifth annual Pet Appreciation Month in April.

The Sidney store facilitated seven adoptions and raised $670 of that total.

Pet Appreciation Month is the retailer’s month-long celebration of pets at all Pet Valu locations throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.

Customers were encouraged to support local shelters by making product and monetary donations in-store at Pet Valu or by using the hashtag #PostaPaw on social media. For each post, Pet Valu provided one cup of pet food to a local shelter. In total, 10,000 cups of food were donated to shelters across the region. This year’s adoption and donation totals are new records for the campaign.
