SIDNEY — Buckeye Ford-Lincoln, the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA, and members of the local community helped raise $6,780 for the 2015 Community Partners Campaign at a recent test-drive event, as part of Lincoln’s Driven To Give program.
More than 250 Sidney/Shelby-area residents test-drove Lincoln vehicles at the Y on May 13. For each car driven, Lincoln donated $20, plus an additional $20 was given for each test-drive that was made in the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKZ series. The funds generated will specifically support program that provides youth and families with financial assistance to make it possible for all to join the YMCA.
Since the program’s inception, the Driven To Give program has generated more than $4 million in donations for educational or charitable organizations nationwide. The money raised during the Driven To Give program has helped ensure that programs continue in local communities despite budgetary constraints and funding cuts.
“I am more than thrilled that so many people from the local community turned out to support the Y and their annual Community Partners Program. We appreciate everyone who came out to drive and helped make this such a successful event. We are always happy to help support the community in any way we can.” said Jerry McName, manager of the Sidney Buckeye Ford-Lincoln dealership. “I’ve never been more proud to be a Lincoln dealer as participants had a chance to take a fun, casual drive in one of our luxurious vehicles, while lending our community a much-needed helping hand.”
“With all the cutbacks we are seeing take place with community budgets, finding creative ways to fund-raise is imperative,” said Ed Thomas, CEO of the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA. “The funds generated from Lincoln’s Driven to Give event will make a real difference to our local community and it says a lot about who they are as a company. The money raised will help over 2,000 youth and families right here in Shelby County. We are most thankful for all of the volunteers that helped with this event, as well as all who came out to take a test drive to support the Y.”
