Troy — The Miami Valley Veterans Museum in Troy has named James Harter its first Mission Continues fellow.
The Mission Continues program provides an opportunity for veterans to find purpose through community impact projects and service. Harter began service at the museum Monday, July 25, and will be there until January 2017.
He served in the U. S. Marine Corps as an infantry mortar man and then as a weapons instructor at the division training center at Camp Lejuene, North Carolina. Harter served from 2008 to 2012. He is a full-time student at Urbana University, working towards a degree in education with the aspiration of becoming a history teacher.
At the museum, Harter will be a key organizer of an upcoming program to honor Korean War veterans and will write and prepare education programs that will be available to schools in the Miami Valley.
