MINSTER — When Julie Fausey’s twin sons went off to college a year ago, she decided to her own boutique in Minster.
“I have always loved shopping, and it just seemed like an easy decision to make,” she said. “Boutiques are becoming the thing now. People are getting tired of malls, and the trend has started to get something a little different.”
After her business, JBoutique, spent 10 months in a 600-square-foot location, without a store front, she decided she needed to make a move.
“I found the space I wanted, and as I started to figure out who the owners were a for-sale sign went up in the window,” Fausey said. “I took that as a sign I was destined to make the move.”
JBoutique moved into the old Layer 3 building, 111 W. Fourth St., right across from the police department, in an attempt to revitalize old downtown Minster.
“The new location has turned out better than my expectations. We’ll have room for more dressing rooms, more merchandise in general, and have an actual store front we can use to garner interest to passer-buyers,” she said.
In three weeks they transformed the 136-year-old building into an amazing boutique, Fausey said. Complete with an awning over the sidewalk.
The boutique specializes in apparel and accessories for women of any age.
“We have just about a little of everything,” she said.
For the grand re-opening weekend, JBoutique will be open Friday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 25, from noon to 4 p.m.
They will also be open all through Oktoberbest the weekend of Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. Normal hours of the store will be Tuesday through Saturday.
