AAA adds insurance coverage for members

SIDNEY — AAA Shelby County has made some exciting changes in 2016, like remodeling the interior of the building for an updated design and efficiency.

“We’ve also added a new member product that allows us to offer reasonably-rated insurance to not only our members, but anyone needing car, home or life insurance,” said Deborah Barga, CEO of AAA Shelby County. “Adding insurance locally has provided another money-saving avenue for AAA members because AAA Insurance offers members a discount on their insurance policies.”

Her report continues:

In September 2016, AAA Shelby County introduced insurance as a core product available to our members. Amanda Hayden, a knowledgeable, licensed insurance agent, was welcomed to our team after Bob Schweitzer retired from State Farm last year. She had previously spent the last 22 years providing insurance services while working in her position with Bob. Amanda is very excited to help AAA members — as well as anyone in the community — with their insurance needs.

Moving forward, in 2017 we will begin offering Medicare supplemental coverage. We also look forward to hosting seminars for our members age 60 and over to address all of these Medicare coverage options as well as personal appointments to answer Medicare questions.

While some facets of our existing building remained the same, we remodeled other portions (ranging from modernized paint jobs to improved carpeting) to better accommodate our newest department: insurance. We’re excited about the changes to our facility and the addition of the new service, which is available to all Shelby county residents. On March 23, 2017, we will host an open house, inviting everyone to stop in and experience everything AAA has to offer Shelby County.

By following AAA’s philosophy of giving exceptional customer service, we stand above our competition by leveraging our versatile travel expertise and highly-experienced staff for various destinations. Our members understand—now more than ever—that it’s important to trust a business with reliable service and dependability. AAA Shelby County provides that service.

We have four knowledgeable travel agents here ready to book any trip — including the trip of your dreams. Our agents pride themselves in keeping up on the constantly-changing travel industry. Having traveled to many places themselves, these experienced counselors enjoy helping each client make every trip an enjoyable and memorable one.

In 2016 AAA Shelby County was awarded the Hertz Gold Key Club of the Year award in the small AAA membership category, which recognized our impressive sales efforts with The Hertz Corporation. As an outstanding partner for AAA and CAA, nationally our relationship provides us a quality product that is easy to recommend for clients.

The team successfully hosted many fun and exciting group trips to places such as Washington, D.C., Charleston, South Carolina, and Branson. Our annual “Christmas in Chicago” trip also continues to sell out each year. We simply have something for everyone.

Driver’s Education remains a core facet of the Shelby County Driving School (a division of AAA). In 2016, 385 student drivers received their education — through both written and behind-the-wheel instructions — with us. We have plans to provide online classroom instructions as an option to students in 2017. This will allow us to offer a complete package price for both online and hands-on learning.

AAA Shelby County provides nearly 15,000 members with travel, insurance, driver education, as well as financial and automotive-related services. Since its founding in 1922, AAA Shelby County has been a leading advocate for safety and security of all travelers. Visit AAA at www.AAA.com
