‘Quality’ No. 1 priority at Winner’s Meats

OSGOOD — In retrospect, 2016 was a good year for Winner’s Meats.

“In February at the Ohio Association of Meat Processors annual convention and product competition, Winner’s brought home another seven ribbons for a variety of products. Winner’s won Reserve Champion for our Winner’s Wieners, and we took first place in Summer Sausage, Bone-In Ham, Bologna and Skin-Off Bacon,” said President Brian Winner. “It was a great event for us, even after 80 plus years, “Quality” is still our No. 1 priority, and Winner’s brings home the ribbons to prove it.”

His report continues:

During Easter weekend in 2016, Winners brought home the MAC Wingfest Specialty Wing Trophy for the third consecutive year for our Grilled Chicken Wings! The people in attendance loved them as well, voting Winner’s for the People’s Choice Award!

In August, US Business Executive named Robert Winner Sons Inc. an honoree to their Best of the United States Edition due to our industry contributions and the forward-thinking nature of our company. We couldn’t be more humbled to receive the award. Winner’s President Brian Winner believes the company’s success is as simple and timeless as their approach to producing fresh, quality meat. “You have to work long, hard and have dedication to the family business; that’s what it takes to succeed. We work right beside our employees, whether it is cutting meat or scraping the floor, if that’s what needs to be done.” Our philosophy extends from the harvest room floor, to the fields, the barns and to the corner office, with all employees expected to do their part regardless of their last name.

At Winner’s, we strive to be good stewards of the land we own and we are committed to handling the animals in our care morally and ethically. We will continue to offer careers in our community, especially in our livestock hauling division, Winner Trucking Inc. Our family is actively involved in local parishes, business organizations and several county fairs. We support our local school athletic and music boosters. And we are extremely passionate about educating the next generation of agriculture employees (or consumers) by providing tours for local FFA and 4-H organizations and Ag classes.

As the company carries on the proud family tradition, Winner’s is increasingly turning to social media to spread the word about their award-winning products and engage with the company’s expanding customer base. The effort is being led by Winner’s up-and-coming fourth-generation owners, whose level of comfort with technology and social media will be a boost to the company moving forward. We are reworking our website and have added the convenience of online ordering which allows us to ship our award winning and homemade products all over the country. Additionally we are looking to expand the number of retail stores and local restaurants carrying our products.

In 2017 we will celebrate our 89th year in business, but we’re already looking ahead to the next 89 years; we’ve made a generational commitment to our community and we expect to continue that legacy.
