Winner’s Meats wins ribbons

OSGOOD — During the Ohio Association of Meat Processors Convention, which was in February in Columbus, meat producers from across the state entered their homemade products in a competition.

Robert Winner Sons Inc. (known as Winner’s Meat’s) took home a first place for Rhine-Off Bacon and four reserve champion awards for Blue Ribbon Bologna, Jalapeno Summer Sausage, Mild Sausage and Semi-Boneless Ham. The judges used various criteria including appearance, aroma, texture and taste to base their decisions on all of the anonymous entries.

During the convention, the Winner family had the opportunity to attend meetings and classes, where meat processors mingle and discuss the latest changes and challenges in their industry. They met with many vendors to check out the latest food processing equipment and products that are now available.
