PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Pet Valu, a pet supplies and accessories chain, was recognized at Mutual of America’s Community Partnership Awards ceremony, April 20, for its commitment to America’s VetDogs and the disabled veterans and first-responders they serve.

At the event at Mutual of America’s headquarters in New York, Pet Valu presented America’s VetDogs with a check for $171,215, the total raised this past March during its annual nationwide fundraiser, where customers can donate toward the cause by purchasing leash-attachable hand sanitizer bottles. This year brought in the highest donation totals the event has raised to date.

The Mutual of America Community Partnership Award honors nonprofit organizations that partner with public, private and other organizations to make meaningful contributions to society. Each year, hundreds of nonprofits are nominated for the award, and this year America’s VetDogs’ PTSD Service Dog Program was selected as the winner. During the ceremony, Mutual of America presented the American eagle ailver coin to Pet Valu for its ongoing support of America’s VetDogs.
