Sidney Cargill makes donation

WAPAKONETA — Mercy Unlimited, a Wapakoneta-based nonprofit, recently was awarded $1,500 by the Sidney Ohio Cargill Cares Council.

These dollars are earmarked for the Children’s Weekend Backpack Program that Mercy Unlimited oversees. There are 50 children receiving weekend food assistance through the program.

Through more than 350 Cargill Cares councils, the firm’s employees around the world contribute millions of dollars and lend more than 100,000 hours of their time to volunteer activities that have a local impact. Sidney Cargill Cares Council served at Mercy Unlimited for a scheduled volunteer work day at the end of April.

Cargill provides corporate support to selected nonprofit organizations that serve communities in which Cargill has a business presence. It supports charities that work within their focus areas of food security, nutrition and sustainability. Last year, Cargill giving reached $50 million across 57 countries.
