COLUMBUS — Twenty-nine Ohio employers will share more than $732,000 in grants from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to purchase equipment designed to substantially reduce or eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses.

Among them is Koenig Equipment Inc. in Botkins.

BWC approved $17,313.97 to purchase seven pneumatic tractor jacks with lift bars and safety pins and seven pneumatic heavy vehicle support stands to reduce the risk of injury to fingers, hands, wrist, arms, shoulder, neck, back, and legs related to crushing injuries, slips, trips, falls, repetitive motion, hand force, awkward postures, contact stress and push/pull heavy load. This intervention will improve the agricultural equipment service and maintenance process. Koenig Equipment Inc. is a lawn, garden and agricultural equipment solutions provider.

“Safety grants prevent accidents and injuries that are costly to workers and employers alike,” said BWC Administrator/CEO Sarah Morrison. “Wise employers strive for a safe work environment so their workers can return home injury-free each evening, and so their business remains on course for success.”

BWC approved the Safety Intervention Grants in May. The Safety Intervention Grant program provides employers with a 3-to-1 matching amount up to a maximum of $40,000. Quarterly data reports and follow-up case studies help BWC determine the effectiveness of employers’ safety interventions and establish best practices for accident and injury prevention.
