Web numbers increase for visitors bureau

SIDNEY — The July and August reports for traffic to the Sidney Visitors Bureau web site showed marked increase.

Numbers for July include 2,561 web sessions (1,552 in 2016); 2,233 unique users (1,349 in 2016), 7,468 page views (3,395 in 2016), 10,312 Facebook reach (12,589 in 2016) and time on site average, 1 minute 2 seconds (1 minute 46 seconds in 2016).

August traffic includes 2,060 web sessions (1,459 in 2016), 1,841 unique users (1,215 in 2016), 6,118 page views (5,409 in 2016), 3,822 Facebook reach (5,825 in 2016) and time on site average, 51 seconds (1 minute 43 seconds in 2016).

Information was sent to 1,861 individuals in July. In 2016, information was sent to 3,081 individuals. In August, informaiton was sent to 470 individuals, down from the 2,747 items sent in 2016.

In July, the search engine marketing had 6,007 impressions with a 13.8 percent click through rate. In August, there were 4,981 impressions with a 5.08 percent click through rate.

Highlights from adversting and promotion included:

• Produced and published a promotional “advertorial” with OhioTraveler.com highlighting numerous events taking place in and around Sidney during the months of September, October, November, and December. Included was information about Vandemark Farm, the Lake Loramie Fall Harvest Festival, the Shelby County Historical Society’s Ghost Tour and Historic Church Tour, Sidney Alive’s Chocolate Walk, Open Air, Dinner, and Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, Raise the Roof for the Arts’ Dueling Pianos Performance, and Gateway Arts Council’s Redneck Tenors Concert. The Winter Wonderland Parade and Christmas of Yesteryear events were also promoted. In addition to being published on OhioTraveler.com’s eNewsletter, this “advertorial” will also be sent in the form of a press release to 900+plus newspaper, magazine, radio and television media outlets.

• The Sidney Visitors Bureau is collaborating with the Angels in the Attic Craft Show, Sidney Alive and the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce to organize a Shop Hop to encourage and incentivize people to visit local specialty shops and boutiques in advance of the Christmas shopping season. The Shop Hop is being planned for Nov. 8-11.

• In July the Bureau concluded its second eBlast campaign through TravelSpike mailing to their distribution list of opt-in subscribers from a variety of travel web sites. The Sidney Visitors Bureau campaign performed exceptionally well with 46,681 impressions and a click through rate of .31 percent, nearly 4 times the travel industry benchmark for email ad campaigns of this variety.
