ANNA — Family-owned, Industrial Contracting Company, Wells Brothers, Inc has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, with no signs of slowing. The year 2017 proved to be another amazing year and we are looking forward to what will come in 2018.

Curt and Sandy Wells started Wells Brothers in 1989, as a small residential electrical company. In 1990 Jerry Wells joined them as an owner. His expertise in plumbing allowed them to add another facet to the business. What started with a just a few employees, now has over 140 employees and is consistently hiring. The company has multiple divisions including: industrial electric, industrial plumbing, HVAC, metal fabrication and assembly, machine rigging, system process handling, concrete & construction. Wells Brothers strives to be the only contractor their customers will need.

Curt Wells, owner and Andy Haag, director of sales, have submitted the following report.

We can tackle projects from start to finish. There are many benefits of working with one company, one contractor and one contact person – for all phases of your project including: elimination of scheduling conflicts between contractors, confusion about “which contractor is responsible for what portion of the work” and streamlining the entire process to increase efficiency and overall quality assurance

Looking back through the years to 2008 when the economy struggled, we have seen a tremendous growth. We are very fortunate to have a solid base of local customers in Shelby, Auglaize, and Allen counties who have expanded, which allowed us to do the same. Since 2008, we have seen an annual growth rate of 14 percent. Our growth rate from 2016 to 2017 was 10%.

What do we think about 2018? We see 2018 as a year of plenty opportunity. All indicators, so far are showing that it has the potential to be a great year. The recent tax changes seem to be allowing manufacturers to put more capital into their business, as well as their employees. This capital investment will prove to support another 8 – 10% growth for 2018 for Wells Brothers. This number has the potential of being higher, however, our focus is going to be our continued support of our existing customers with our current employees. Our growth will not be limited by the economy or our valued customers. It will be limited by the available employee base.

To support the growth mentioned, Wells Brothers has added many new positions over the last few years. We have also added numerous opportunities for our employees to increase their skills and knowledge including: on-site development training, tuition reimbursement, and becoming an accredited facility for NCCER training. Many employees have already participated in the classes offered, expressed interest in upcoming classes, or utilized tuition reimbursement funds. The development and growth opportunities for our employees is always a top priority. As our employees are a very important part of our business, we also strive to follow the example in Matthew Kelly’s “Be the Best Version of Yourself.” In addition, we encourage our employees to work towards being their best version and support them in obtaining the goals that will get them there.

While the years have brought many exciting changes, one thing that has not changed at Wells Brothers is our mission statement and our commitment to it “Treat the customer and my co-worker as I would like to be treated.” This mission statement is as important now as it was the day we started. We want to thank our employees, our customers, and our community for our continued success. We wish all of you a prosperous 2018!!
