ANNA — Panel Control Inc. (also known as PCI) is a growing Anna, Ohio-based Certified Women Owned Business specializing in the design and build of electrical control panels and custom cables. PCI’s technicians have many years of experience in the electrical/panel building field. In addition to custom panel and cable assembly, PCI offers installation and support services to get the customer’s application up and running quickly and correctly.

PCI was originally a division of Wells Brothers, Inc. which was founded in 1989. The company started as a small residential electrical and plumbing business and has now become a multi division industrial contracting company owned by Curt, Sandy and Jerry Wells.

Due to its rapid growth, the panel division, Panel Control, was established as a separate company in 2010. Sandy Wells serves as the company’s majority owner and president, while Curt and Jerry serve as vice presidents. Gregg Barhorst brings his vast knowledge of the electrical/panel industry as operations manager and oversees the day-to-day operations of the panel/cable shops and PCI’s continually expanding customer base.

Sandy Wells, president, and Lisa Meyer, CFO, have released the following report:

PCI had a very successful year in 2017. While our overall sales remained relatively constant versus the prior year, we have added several new key customers during the year, while continuing to grow and serve our existing top customers. We’ve improved our labor hour efficiency by implementing a target tracking system which has resulted in lower manufacturing costs, improved gross margins and better pricing for our customers. PCI also continues to proactively partner with our key suppliers to ensure the lowest cost and best service in procuring materials (lower costs which then get passed along to our customers). In addition, PCI has implemented a number of inventory control process improvements that have resulted in further inventory and material cost reduction.

PCI takes great pride in the quality and timely delivery of every electrical control panel that is built. We ensure to our customers that every panel is built to the highest standards and is 100% quality inspected prior to shipment. In 2017, we appointed Joe Bodenmiller as Production/Quality Supervisor who oversees the production scheduling and quality inspection process, reports and corrects issues and develops improvements and training topics to ensure top quality. We continue to train our technicians and staff via monthly “lunch & learn” training sessions to ensure PCI’s highest quality standard and practices are communicated and utilized throughout our organization. This focus on quality and training enables our employees to follow the example in Matthew Kelly’s “Be the Best Version of Yourself.”

PCI also continues to partner with the Workforce Partnership of Shelby County and has worked with several schools throughout Shelby County to educate students on what PCI does and how to go about learning the essential trade skills to be a successful employee in the Panel Building industry. PCI is continually recruiting qualified panel building technicians. Anyone interested in joining our winning team and this great family owned company can apply online at www.panelcontrolinc.com (Careers tab).

While the last few years have continued to bring many exciting changes, one thing that has not changed is PCI’s mission statement and our commitment to living it daily: “Treat the customer and my co-worker as I would like to be treated.” This mission statement is as important now as it was the day we started. We want to thank our employees, our customers, and our community for our continued success. We wish all of you the greatest blessings for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2018.
