Shelby County suspect arrested

ST. MARYS — Auglaize County Sheriff’s Deputies made an arrest on Friday, Oct. 19, of a suspect wanted in Shelby County for violation of a court order.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on state Route 703, during which they learned of an armed passenger hiding in the vehicle.

After multiple attempts, Deputies made contact with the subject, identified as Cory D. Gross, who then came out of hiding. The subject was later placed into custody without further incident.

Gross, 36, of St. Marys, had outstanding warrants in connection to his arrest for three counts of drug possession, all fourth degree felonies.

Gross is also wanted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office for violation of a court order, as well as by the state of Missouri for property damage.

Gross is currently being held at the Auglaize County Corrections Center without bond.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, St. Marys Police Department, Celina Police Department, Grand Lake Task Force, and the Wright State Lake Campus Police Department assisted in the traffic stop.
