Sheriff’s log

TUESDAY

-12:41 p.m.: property-damage accident. A vehicle rear-ended another vehicle on southbound Interstate 75 at state Route 47.

MONDAY

-4:13 p.m.: theft. Bows were stolen from a barn at 13371 Ailes Road.

-2:23 p.m.: property-damage accident. A two-vehicle accident happened in the 500 block of East State Street near Circle K in Botkins.

SUNDAY

-10:23 p.m.: property-damage accident. Deputies responded to Miami River Road on the report of a vehicle going into the river.

-9:05 p.m.: assault. Deputies responded to the report of an assault in the 300 block of Clay Street, Jackson Center.

-5:09 p.m.: threats or harassment. Deputies responded to the report of threats in the 6000 block of Dawson Road.

SATURDAY

-4:30 p.m.: burglary. Alan and Nancy Kolsky, 1335 Shroyer Place, Sidney, reported someone entered a house they are trying to sell in the 3000 block of Knoop-Johnston Road. The house is empty and nothing was taken; however, someone left black lights, TV trays and a stool at the house. The fireplace and stove were also used. A call was also placed to the Sheriff’s Office on Monday morning at 8:34 a.m. that the house was broken into again.

Accidents

Icy roads were instrumental in three accidents Saturday morning.

At 9:10 a.m., Mya Rose Francis, 17, of Minster, was northbound on state Route 48 from state Route 66. She lost control of her vehicle due to the icy road conditions.

The vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road at the intersection of Paulus Road. The vehicle struck the ditch and continued up a grassy hill become coming to rest.

The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

At 8:46 a.m. Saturday, Rhienna Renee Forney, 23, 777 Bulle Road, Sidney, was westbound in the 15000 block of Kirkwood Road when her vehicle struck a patch of ice on the roadway. The vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

At 7:44 a.m. Saturday, James E. Smith, 51, 10098 Schenk Road, Sidney, was traveling northbound on Loramie-Washington Road, approaching the stop sign at the intersection with Fessler-Buxton Road. While attempting to stop, the vehicle slid through the intersection due to the icy roads and went into a plowed field.

After the crash, Smith drove out of the field and returned home prior to reporting the crash.

The vehicle sustained minor damage.

No citations were issued in any of the accidents.

• Heather M. Edwards, 45, 16580 Mason Road, Sidney, was cited for failure to yield at a stop or yield sign following a two-vehicle accident Friday at 6:22 p.m.

James C. Gesell, 23, 124 Mound St., Sidney, was stopped on state Route 29, waiting to turn left onto Interstate 75. Edwards was getting off of I-75 at state Route 29 and didn’t see Gesell’s vehicle. Edwards pulled onto state Route 29 from the exit ramp and struck the driver’s door of Gesell’s vehicle.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

Fire, rescue

TUESDAY

-5:32 a.m.: medical. Anna Rescue was called to Agrana Fruits, 16197 County Road 25A.

-4:01 a.m.: medical. Houston Rescue was called to the 10000 block of Little Turtle Way.

-2:52 a.m.: mutual aid. Jackson Center Fire provided mutual aid with a tanker at 1220 State Route 235 North in Logan County.

-2:26 a.m.: medical. Anna Rescue was called to Honda, 12500 Meranda Road.

MONDAY

8:55 p.m.: medical. Fort Loramie Rescue was called to Dairy King and Motel, 33 N. Main St., Fort Loramie.

-8:14 p.m.: medical. Anna Rescue was called to Circle K and Subway, 500 E. State St., Botkins.

-7:20 p.m.: odor. Botkins Fire was called to 305 N. Main St., Botkins, to investigate an odor.

-3:34 p.m.: medical. Anna Rescue was called to the Shell station, 608 E. Main St., Anna.

-8:42 a.m.: fire. Van Buren Township Fire Department responded to the 8000 block of state Route 119 on the report of a smoke alarm sounding with an unknown cause.

-7:44 a.m.: accident with injuries. Houston Rescue, Lockington Fire, Sidney medics and firefighters, and deputies responded to the accident in the 2000 block of River Road.

SUNDAY

-10:50 p.m.: medical. Fort Loramie Rescue responded to the 2000 block of Timber Ridge Drive.

-7 p.m.: medical. Anna Rescue responded to the 700 block of Michigan Street.

-6:33 p.m.: fire. Anna Fire Department responded with mutual aid for a house fire in the 400 block of North Wagner Avenue, Sidney.

-5:09 p.m.: medical. Anna Rescue and Jackson Center Police responded to the 100 block of Redbud Circle.
