SIDNEY — In Shelby County Common Pleas Court Wednesday, James B. Skolfield, 30, of Sidney, entered a guilty plea to two counts of rape, felonies of the first-degree.

Skolfield was originally indicted on five counts of rape in October 2015. According to court records, all counts pointed to incidents around Nov. 1, 2014 when he “engaged in sexual conduct with and 8-year-old female.”

According to the plea agreement the defense and prosecution give a joint recommendation of 10-years in prison on the first count and five-years in prison on the second count, to be served consecutively.

The maximum prison term Skolfield could get on both counts would be 11 years each and have to pay a $20,000 fine for each. After he is released from prison he would have to serve a mandatory five years of community control, and would be registered as a tier III sexual offender for the rest of his life.

A date for sentencing has not been scheduled yet.
