Grand jury indicts 24 on drug charges

SIDNEY — The Sidney police department’s narcotics unit presented evidence to a Shelby County grand jury in regards to drug trafficking activity in the city of Sidney on Oct. 28.

Upon hearing evidence, the grand jury handed down indictments on 24 individuals on 86 counts of drug trafficking. The drug trafficking charges included Trafficking in Fentanyl, Heroin, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Tramadol, PCP, Spice, and other dangerous drugs.

More than half of the 24 individuals indicted by the grand jury reside in Sidney.

Michael J. Elliott, 47, of Xenia, was indicted on three drug trafficking charges that occurred on March 30, 2021 and April 5, 2021. They include two fourth degree felonies for trafficking in drugs (Fentanyl) and one third degree felony for aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine). All of the alleged offenses were done in the vicinity of a school.

Darrell Earl Clark, 39, of Sidney, was indicted on six drug trafficking charges. They consist of two fifth degree felonies for trafficking in drugs (Fentanyl) on or about March 26 and March 30, 2021, one fourth degree felony for aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine) on or about March 25, 2021, one fourth degree felony for selling a dangerous drug (Buspirone Hydrochloride) on or about February 2, 2021, and two third degree felonies for aggravated trafficking in drugs in the vicinity of a school (Methamphetamine).

Stephen Matthew Hall Sr., 42, of Sidney, was indicted on nine drug trafficking charges occurring on or about May 17-19, 2021 and May 25, 2021. The charges consist of seven fifth degree felonies for trafficking in drugs (heroin, fentanyl, Tramadol) and two fourth degree felonies for aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine).

Robert Joseph Parker, 34, of Sidney, was indicted on one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth degree felony, for allegedly selling Metheamphetamine on or about Oct. 21, 2020.

Derick Wayne Hickman, 31, of Sidney, was indicted on eight drug trafficking charges for his alleged activities occurring on or about March 23, March 30, and April 2, 2021. The charges include four counts of trafficking in drugs (cocaine), each being fifth degree felonies, and four counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine), each being fourth degree felonies.

Trisa L. Boyd, 33, of Sidney, was indicted on one charge of aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine) that occurred in the vicinity of a school, a third degree felony, on or about Dec. 18, 2020.

Lindsay N.M. Skeens, 26, at large, was indicted on four drug charges. These include two fourth degree felonies for aggravated trafficking in drugs (Fentanyl) in the vicinity of a school on or about Sept. 16, 2020 and Sept. 23, 2020, one fourth degree felony for aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine) on or about Sept. 25, 2020, and one third degree felony for aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine) in the vicinity of a school on or about March 12, 2021.

Daniel K. Boyd, 37, of Sidney, was indicted on five drug charges for allegedly selling Methamphetamine on or about Dec. 28-29, 2020, Jan. 4, 2021, and Jan. 8, 2021. These included three charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs, each being third degree felonies, and one charge of aggravated trafficking in drugs in the vicinity of a school, a second degree felony.

Robert J. Delafuente, 44, of Sidney, was indicted on two charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs within the vicinity of a school, occurring on or about Jan. 6, 2021 and Jan. 11, 2021. One charge is for the alleged sale of Methamphetamine, being a third degree felony, and the other charge is for a larger amount of Methamphetamine, between 3-15 grams, a second degree felony.

David M. Brooks, 25, of Sidney, was indicted on five drug trafficking charges for allegedly selling Methamphetamine on or about Feb. 22, 25, 26, and March 1, 2021. These include one count of trafficking in drugs, a fourth degree felony, and four counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs in the vicinity of a school, each third degree felonies.

Jarrod B. Brown, 24, of Sidney, was indicted on three fourth degree felony charges for trafficking in drugs (marijuana) on or about Jan. 26 and 28, 2021, as well as Feb. 1, 2021.

William L. Stone, 52, of Piqua, was indicted on two drug charges. The first indictment is for trafficking in drugs (Fentanyl), a fourth degree felony, which occurred on or about Feb. 17, 2021. The second indictment is for aggravated trafficking in drugs (phencyclidine or ‘PCP’), a third degree felony, which occurred on or about Feb. 17, 2021.

Clara J. Kauffman, 35, at large, was indicted on a fourth degree felony charge of aggravated trafficking of drugs (Methamphetamine) on or about Feb. 26, 2021. (Kauffman was listed twice with the same case number).

Megan M. Price, 34, of Sidney, was indicted on a fourth degree felony charge of aggravated trafficking of drugs (Marijuana) within the vicinity of juveniles on or about June 3, 2020.

Krista J. Elliott, 29, of Sidney, was indicted on a fifth degree felony charge of trafficking in drugs for selling or offering to sell Fentanyl on or about Feb. 26, 2021.

James D. Cornett, 39, at large, was indicted on nine fourth and fifth degree felony drug trafficking charges. On or about Jan. 26 and Jan. 29, 2021, Cornett allegedly committed six fifth degree felonies for trafficking in drugs (Fentanyl, cocaine) and three fourth degree felonies for aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine, PCP).

Tumairra R. Hoover, 25, of Sidney, was indicted on two fourth degree felonies for aggravated trafficking in drugs (Pharmacophore, a synthetic cannabinoid), each fourth degree felonies.

Wesley D. Conaster, 31, of Sidney, was indicted on four charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine), each a fourth degree felony, on or about Feb. 22, 23, and 26, 2021.

Devon M. Crumby, 29, of Sidney, was indicted on four drug charges. Two charges were for trafficking in drugs (cocaine) on or around Feb. 10-11, 2021, each being fifth degree felonies. A third charge was for trafficking in drugs (cocaine) near a school on or around Feb. 8, 2021, and a fourth charge was aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine) on or around Feb. 15, 2021, each being fourth degree felonies.

Sondra K. Deal, 60, at large, was indicted on four charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs (Methamphetamine), each being fourth degree felonies, on Oct. 30, May 7, and May 18, 2021.

Rocky L. Stone, 41, of Sidney, was indicted on five charges of trafficking in drugs on or about Jan. 7, Jan. 9, Feb.1, and Feb, 12, 2021.. One charge is a fifth degree felony for allegedly selling or offering to sell drugs (Fentanyl). The remaining four charges involve an alleged or attempted sale of drugs (Fentanyl, Tramadol) within the vicinity of a juvenile, each of which are fourth degree felonies.

Auttie S. King, 27, of Sidney, was indicted on four drug trafficking charges, two being fifth degree felonies (marijuana) and two being fourth degree felonies (Methamphetamine). The sale or attempted sale of the drugs occurred on or about Feb. 8, Feb. 12, Feb. 16, and Feb. 18, 2021.

Amanda Holbrook, 26, at large, was indicted on one fourth degree felony for aggravated trafficking in drugs, for selling or attempting to sell drugs (Methamphetamine) on or about Feb. 26, 2021.

The Shelby County grand juryalso authorized the seizure of $655 and one handgun related to a narcotics search warrant. These indictments are a result of multiple investigations spanning numerous months.

The Sidney Police Department remains proactive in its fight to combat drug trafficking in our city.

The grand jury also indicted:

• Brandon M. Peak, 33, of Sidney, was indicted on two counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, each being second degree felonies. On or around March 13, 2021, Peak was charged for allegedly disseminating an obscene photo of a minor.

• Leah Victoria Righter, 27, of Port Jefferson, was indicted on a fourth degree felony for endangering children. From May 19, 2021 through Sept. 12, 2021 Righter allegedly abused a nine-year-old child. She was previously convicted of child endangerment on Aug. 30, 2018, which was a fourth degree felony.

• Mekale E. Turpin, 29, of Lexington, Kentucky, was indicted for receiving stolen property, a fourth degree felony. On or about Aug. 7, 2021, Turpin allegedly possessed a motor vehicle he knew (or had reasonable cause to believe) was stolen.

• Mitchell Timothy Gard, 32, of Sidney, was indicted for receiving stolen property, a fourth degree felony, and failure to comply with the order or signal of an officer, a third degree felony. On or about Oct. 25, 2021, Gard allegedly stole a police cruiser and fled, ignoring an officer’s signal to stop. A high-speed chase resulted in running multiple red lights and an accident, and, as a result, Gard allegedly endangered himself and others.

• Jeffrey A. Meyer, 37, of Sidney, was indicted on one charge of domestic violence, a fourth degree felony. On or about Oct. 25, 2021, Meyer allegedly struck a household member on or near her face. He was previously convicted of a fourth degree felony for domestic violence.
