SIDNEY — Robert J. Monnin, 31, of Sidney, entered a guilty plea in Shelby County Common Pleas Court Thursday to one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony of the third-degree.

Monnin pleaded guilty to the count on a bill of information, waiving having the case presented to a grand jury.

According to the bill of information he “being 10 or more years older than the other person, did have sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old juvenile.”

Monnin is facing up to five years in prison, and a maximum $10,000 fine. Upon his release from prison he will have to file as a tier two sexual offender and serve a mandatory five years of community control.

He was released on his own recognizance and a no-contact order with the victim was put into place.

Monnin is scheduled to be sentenced July 14, at 1:30 p.m.
