SIDNEY — The 16-year-old boy accused of robbing the Anna Market appeared in Shelby County Juvenile Court Thursday morning.

According to McKenzie Lotz, chief probation officer, the boy entered a denial of the charge in court. He is charged with aggravated robbery. He was ordered back to the West Central Juvenile Detention Center, Troy.

Lotz said the boy will now receive an attorney and “come back for a pretrial which will occur in within a week or two.”

The teen allegedly entered the Anna Market with a handgun Tuesday afternoon and took money from the business. He then fled from the business and was later apprehended at his residence.

Assisting in the search for the suspect Tuesday was Anna Police, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Sidney Police, Ohio Highway Patrol and Botkins Police.

The weapon and money were recovered.
