Sheriff’s log

MONDAY

-9:29 p.m.: larceny. Deputies are investigating the theft of a cell phone from 12065 Thelma Drive in McLean Township.

-1:54 p.m.: accident with injuries. Deputies are investigating a motorcycle accident in the 600 block of state Route 29 in Perry Township. Perry Port Salem Rescue Port Jefferson Fire, Sidney Medics and CareFlight were all dispatched to the scene.

-1:37 p.m.: accident with injuries. Deputies are investigating a two-vehicle accident in the 6000 block of state Route 66. Fort Loramie Rescue, Fort Loramie Fire and Fort Loramie Police were all dispatched to the scene.

-7:40 a.m.: property damage accident. Deputies are investigating a one-vehicle accident in the 18000 block of Dingman Slagle Road in Perry Township.

-7:30 a.m.: property damage accident. Deputies are investigating an accident at County Road 25A and Sharp Road in Franklin Township.

SUNDAY

-5:09 p.m.: livestock on roadway. Deputies and Sidney Fire were dispatched to 7515 Hardin Wapakoneta Road in Turtle Creek on a report there was a emu running loose.

-4:33 p.m.: property damage accident. Deputies are investigating a property damage accident at Mason and Thompson Schiff roads.

-4:26 p.m.: accident with injuries. Deputies are investigating a motorcycle/vehicle accident at County Road 25A and Mason Road. Anna Rescue and Sidney Fire were also dispatched to the scene.

SATURDAY

-1:52 p.m.: animal bite. Kenneth and Misty Kemmeter, 21616 E. Lane St., Maplewood, reported a dog had bitten their son, Evan, 8. They had taken the boy to Wilson Health Emergency Room for treatment. The dog bit the lower part of Evan’s leg.

Deputies contacted Danielle Nelson, 21566 Maplewood Road, Maplewood, who owns the dog. She was asked if the dog was up-to-date on its shots. She advised it had been a littler over a year since the last time it received its shots. She was told a report would be given to the dog warden, who would follow up on the case.

-6:08 a.m.: theft without consent. Amy J. Smith, 109 Russia Road, Russia, reported someone took $40 from her purse.

FRIDAY

-6:37 p.m.: theft without consent. Robert C. Diehl, 3599 River Road, Sidney, reported someone took a Troy Built Power Washer from the deck at his residence. The item was valued at $400.

-5:10 p.m.: dog bite. Dwana Doak, 224 Robb St., Apt. A, Jackson Center, reported a dog she had tied to a tree bit her boyfriend, Joshua Bowling, 8666 Wright Puthoff Road, Sidney. She said she had the dog for two days and was attempting to rescue it. The deputy contacted the Animal Shelter who said they were unable to do anything with the dog. The shelter advised the owners to quarantine the dog for 10 days and have a veterinarian check it out.

-9:48 a.m.: criminal mischief. Timothy S. Campbell, 10995 Little Turtle Way, Sidney, reported someone vandalized his vehicle overnight. Someone threw eggs and a piece of bologna on it.

-9:07 a.m.: theft without consent. Jerry W. Adams, 8100 Lochard Road, Sidney, reported someone entered his residence during the past week and took two guns, a television and fire safe. The items were valued at $750.

-3:30 a.m.: domestic violence. Christopher Clark, 41, 15257 Pasco Montra Road, Anna, was charged with domestic violence after being involved in an altercation with his mother and stepfather, Deborah and Michael Leiss, 15257 Pasco Montra Road, Anna.

-1 a.m.: criminal trespass. Rebeccca D. Brussell, 11236 Luthman Road, Minster, reported someone had entered her residence while she was out walking with her son. She said she couldn’t find anything missing.

THURSDAY

-10:15 p.m.: criminal mischief/trespass. Arthur A. Ayers, 4020 State Route 66, Houston, reported someone drive through the grass near his bean field.

-3:52 p.m.: breaking and entering. Terry Richardson, 17787 Mason Road, Sidney, reported someone broke into a shed on his residence and took a two weed trimmers and a chainsaw between 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, and Thursday, May 26. The value of the items was $754.

-noon: theft without consent. Denise Mahan, 13010 Sidney Freyburg Road, Anna, reported someone entered her vehicle between midnight and 7:30 a.m. and took $100 and a Gummy headset worth $15.

-8:09 p.m.: vandalism. Anna Police is investigating a report of vandalism at the Anna Community Park, 500 W. Main St., Anna.

FRIDAY

-7:37 p.m. hit skip accident. Jackson Center Police and Deputies were dispatched to 108 Redbud Circle in Jackson Township on the report of a black F250 Ford truck pulling a trailer causing a collision on 274 and leaving the scene.

Fire, rescue

TUESDAY

-1:37 p.m.: medical. Perry Port Salem Rescue, Anna Rescue and Jackson Center Police were dispatched to the 400 block of West Pike Street in Jackson Center.

-1:14 p.m.: medical. Anna Rescue and Jackson Center Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Redbud Circle in Jackson Center.

-10:44 a.m.: medical. Anna Rescue was dispatched to the 3000 block of Sidney Freyburg Road.

-2:51 a.m.: fire alarm. Russia Fire was dispatched to 101 N. Liberty St. for a fire alarm.

MONDAY

-10:50 p.m.: medical. Fort Loramie Rescue was dispatched to the 12000 block of state Route 362.

-8:26 p.m.: medical. Fort Loramie Rescue was dispatched to the 2700 block of state Route 47 in Cynthian Township.

-12:26 p.m.: fire. Port Jefferson Fire was dispatched to the 16000 block of Fort Loramie Swanders Road on a report of a lot of black smoke in the area.

-12:07 p.m.: medical. Perry Port Salem Rescue was dispatched to the 200 block of West Wall Street in Salem Township.

-8:13 a.m.: Fire. Port Jefferson Fire and Sidney Fire were dispatched to 5669 State Route 29 in Perry Township for a carbon monoxide detector going off.

-7:26 a.m.: medical. Houston Rescue was dispatched to the 7000 block of Stoker Road.

-3:42 a.m.: accident with injuries. Lockington Fire and Rescue were dispatched to Miami County for a roll over accident with injuries at 10950 N. Piqua-Lockington Road.

-3:12 a.m.: assist other unit. Houston Rescue and Deputies were dispatched to Russia Versailles Road at state Route 48 to assist other units.

-2:45 a.m.: fire. Botkins Fire was dispatched to the 109 mile marker on Interstate 75 for a vehicle fire in Auglaize County. All occupants got out of the vehicle.

SUNDAY

8:58 p.m.: medical. Anna Rescue and Van Buren Township Fire were dispatched to the 8000 block of state Route 274 in Van Buren Township.

Accidents

Michael A. Sullenberger, 43, 1617 N. Main Ave., Sidney, was transported to Wilson Hospital following an accident Sunday at 4:26 p.m. at County Road 25A and Mason Road.

Sullenberger was traveling north of County Road 25A when a vehicle driven by Cynthia L. Ohlsen, 64, 2582 Alpine Court, Sidney, pulled into his path from Mason Road. Sullenbarger laid his motorcycle down during the accident.

Sullenberger’s motorcycle sustaned moderate damage. Ohlsen’s vehicle sustained light damage.

• Brock M. Murphy, 19, of Covington was arrested for driving while under the influence following an accident Sunday at 2:46 a.m.

Murphy was traveling eastbound in the 100 block of Miami Shelby Road. He told deputies a deer came onto the roadway and he swerved to miss it. The vehicle went off the right side of the road into a steep ditch.

The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

• No citations were issued following a two-vehicle accident Saturday at 3:41 p.m.

Joseph F. Brown, 38, 510 W. Pike St., Jackson Center, was driving north on Pasco Montra Road. Susan Michelle Smith, 16. of Sidney, was traveling east on Meranda Road and had stopped at a stop sign. Smith continued through the intersection, striking Brown’s vehicle.

Smith said she was distracted by others in the vehicle and thought she had enough time to cross the road.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.

• Paige M. Vondenhuevel, 17, of Sidney, was eastbound on Deam Road Friday at 11:10 p.m. when a deer ran into the roadway. She swerved to avoid the deer and lost control of her vehicle, which then struck a power pole. The vehicle was disabled and towed from the scene.

• Kathleen N. Burton, 28, 300 Clay St., Lot 32, Jackson Center, was southbound in the 17000 block of state Route 65 when she struck a dog crossing the road. The dog is owned by Braden Lotz, 17365 State Route 65, Jackson Center.

• No citations were issued following an accident Friday at 8:50 p.m.

Kevin A. Schlarman, 26, Columbus, was westbound on state Route 274 when he had to stop suddenly because a vehicle driven by William F. Billing, 72, Lakeview, had stopped for a raccoon and three or four small raccoons crossing the road. The two vehicles sideswiped each other as they tried to avoid the raccoons and one another.

• Alan Jay Locker, 59, 432 W. Main St., Port Jefferson, was transported to Wilson Hospital by Perry Port Salem Rescue following a one-vehicle accident Friday at 6:52 a.m.

Locker was traveling southbound on Pasco Montra Road when he fell asleep. His vehicle went off the east side of the road, striking a mailbox. The vehicle continued south going through a yard. The vehicle then went across Sharp Road, striking a guy wire and coming to rest. The pole and the guy wire broke off after being struck.

Locker’s vehicle was disabled and towed from the scene.
