Marijuana case bound over

SIDNEY — The case of man arrested for allegedly having a marijuana-grow operation inside his home has been sent to Shelby County Common Pleas Court.

In Sidney Municipal Court Tuesday, Judge Duane Goettemoeller ordered the case of Mark E. Ward, 53, 21785 Deam Road, bound over after Ward waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Ward is charged with the illegal manufacture of drugs and possession of criminal tools, both felonies.

Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Ward on Aug. 25 during a marijuana-eradication operation. Ward has been placed on administrative leave from his job as a custodian with Fairlawn Local Schools.

Ward was arrested after deputies discovered marijuana plants growing on his property. A subsequent search of Ward’s residence yielded a marijuana-grow operation inside the home. Deputies seized several items used in growing marijuana, as well as about 10 pounds of marijuana.
