Sheriff’s log

TUESDAY

-1:51 p.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies investigated a complaint of a possible fraud and identity theft at Dorothy Love Apartments on North Kuther Road in Clinton Township.

-12:52 a.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of East North Street in Clinton Township to investigate the report people chased and tried to run the caller off the road.

MONDAY

-10:43 p.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies investigated a complaint of an unknown disturbance in the 500 block of Oakridge Drive in Franklin Township.

-5:49 p.m.: vandalism. Deputies were dispatched to 19555 Herring Road in Salem Township on the report someone threw a cinder block through the back door of the residence.

-3:14 p.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies were dispatched to 218 East Bennett St. in Clinton Township on the report the landlord would not release the caller’s belongings.

-1:33 p.m.: property damage crash. Deputies responded to Miami Shelby East Road at Patterson Halpin Road in Washington Township on the report of a one-vehicle crash.

-8:48 a.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies investigated a complaint of a nude 2-year-old in the middle of the road with no guardian around in the 16000 block of Heiland Kies Road in Dinsmore Township. The mother of the child told deputies her older child was watching the younger one while she napped and this was the only time he got out of the house without her knowledge.

SUNDAY

-8:32 p.m.: fireworks. Deputies responded to the 300 block of North Linden Street on the report fireworks were going off in the area.

-7:15 p.m.: suspicious car. Deputies responded to River Road and Sulpher Heights Hill in Orange Township on the report a suspicious car was driving slowly in the area.

-3:34 p.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies investigated an unknown disturbance at 4873 State Route 29 in Green Township.

FRIDAY

-7:10 p.m.: property damage crash. Michael P. Christman, 65, of 11199 Wenger Road, Anna, reported the end of a fertilizer applicator on his tractor struck a traffic sign in the 14000 block of Fort Loramie Swanders Road. He told the deputy there was no damage to his tractor and he is willing to pay to have the sign replaced.

MONDAY

-7:50 a.m.: trespassing. Jackson Center Police responded to 108 Jackson Street in Jackson Township on the report of a trespassing.

SUNDAY

-5:06 p.m.: investigate complaint. Botkins Police investigated a complaint at the Dollar General on South Main Street in Dinsmore Township.

-4:07 p.m.: investigate complaint. Botkins Police investigated a complaint at the Circle K on East State Street in Dinsmore Township.

Crashes

No citations were issued after a crash on Monday at 6:13 a.m.

Henry Charles Reed, 35, of Galloway, was driving a semi-tanker and was turning southbound on Commerce Drive in Anna when his vehicle scratched the driver’s side mirror housing of the northbound vehicle on Commerce Drive driven by Dale Agnew, 45, of Belle Center.

According to the Anna Police report, it appeared Reed was already committed to the turn when Agnew’s vehicle approached Reed’s vehicle.

• Kelsey Lynn Harshbarger, 30, 6698 Palestine St., Pemberton, was westbound on East Lockington Road Friday, June 2, at 10:02 p.m. when she attempted to negotiate a curve in the road. The vehicle went across the center line and off the left side of the road, striking a wooden fence and phone pedestal.

The fence is owned by Jerome Schmidt, 11186 E. Lockington Road, Piqua. The phone pedestal is owned by Embarq.

The vehicle sustained minor damage.

• No one was cited following a two-vehicle crash on Thursday at 7:02 a.m.

Austin Persinger, 19, of Quincy, was traveling northbound on state Route 29 when he failed to negotiate the curve, traveled into the southbound lane and struck the southbound vehicle on state Route 29 driven by Scott Bruns, 47, of Maria Stein. In an attempt to avoid the collision, Bruns went partially into a ditch, but was unable to avoid the crash. After being struck, Bruns’ vehicle then spun around and came to a rest facing the north in the southbound lane.

Persinger told the responding deputy he fell asleep. According to the crash report, there were no skid or yaw marks from Persinger’s vehicle to indicate any evasive action was taken before the crash.

• No citations were issued following a crash on May 31 at 4:28 p.m.

Laura Slone, 34, St. Marys, was traveling northwest on state Route 29 at McCartyville Road when she struck the left rear corner of the vehicle in front of her that had slowed down to make a right hand turn onto McCartyville Road.

The other vehicle was driven by Brendon Anderson, 19, 1225 Constitution Ave., Sidney.

• No citations were issued following a crash on May 28 at 7:42 a.m.

Janelle M. Zumberger, 26, of 8917 Cecil Road, Fort Loramie, was in the northbound lane of Cecil Road, stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of state Route 705. She turned left onto state Route 705 striking a vehicle driven by John B. Froning, 71, of Lake City, Tennessee, who was eastbound on state Route 705.

Froning told deputies he observed the other vehicle drive into the intersection and applied his brakes and swerved into the westbound lane in attempt to avoid the crash.

Zumberger’s vehicle sustained moderate damage. Froning’s vehicle was disabled in the crash.

Fire, rescue

TUESDAY

-9:28 a.m.: medical. Russia Fire Department and Houston Rescue responded to the 2400 block of Russia Houston Road in Loramie Township.

-9:15 a.m.: medical. Russia Fire Department, Houston Rescue and Deputies responded to the 1100 block of Redmond Road in Loramie Township.

MONDAY

-5:23 p.m.: medical. Anna Rescue and Jackson Center Police responded to the 100 block of Redbud Circle in Jackson Township.

-12:04 p.m.: medical. Fort Loramie Rescue responded to the 11900 block of state Route 362 in McLean Township.

-5:43 p.m.: medical. Anna Rescue responded to the 100 block of Redbud Circle in Jackson Township.

-12:56 a.m.: medical. Perry Port Salem Rescue and Port Jefferson Fire Department responded to the 5500 block of state Route 29 in Perry Township.
