Sheriff’s log

TUESDAY

-2:38 p.m.: trespassing. Trespassing was reported at 5180 Stoker Road.

MONDAY

-10:44 p.m.: break-in. Cars were broken into at 13490 Pasco-Montra Road.

-4:52 p.m.: property-damage accident. An auto accident occurred at the 99 mile marker of southbound Interstate 75. No one was injured.

-12:32 p.m.: theft. Theft from a vehicle was reported at 6648 Palestine St., Pemberton.

-11:07 a.m.: property-damage accident. A dump truck hit a pole at the intersection of Hardin-Wapakoneta and Stangel roads.

-10:30 a.m.: vandalism. A pumpkin was thrown and hit a mailbox at 9172 Cisco Road during the night.

SUNDAY

-5:33 p.m.: trespassing. People were reported to be in a field at Miami-Shelby Road and state Route 66.

SATURDAY

-12:20 a.m.: OVI and theft. Shannon D. Vollmer, of Straitsville, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and theft without consent, while Carl Jones III, of Straitsville, was arrested for theft without consent. The pair are accused of taking items from a vehicle parked at Patrick’s Pub, 13490 State Route 29, Anna. More than $300 worth of items were taken from the vehicle owned by Jay Hoying. While deputies searched for the vehicle involved in the incident, it was observed at the entrance ramp to Interstate 75. The vehicle was stopped and the deputy detected an odor of alcohol on Vollmer, who was driving. After a field sobriety test, Vollmer was arrested on the OVI with refusal charge. Both men were transported to the Shelby County Jail and were arraigned Monday morning in Sidney Municipal Court.

-12:11 a.m.: vandalism. Brian K. Smith, 9292 Friemering Road, Fort Loramie, reported his mailbox was vandalized when someone threw a pumpkin at it. The vandalism happened sometime overnight. Smith told deputies this was the second time the mailbox has been vandalized. Damage was set at $16.

Accidents

Jimmy Wilson Hall, 32, of DeGraff, was cited for failure to control following an accident Saturday at 12:54 a.m.

Hall was southbound in the 12000 block of state Route 65 when he failed to maintain control of his vehicle. The vehicle crossed the center line and travelled off the left side of the road, striking the ditch and then a fence row.

The 1997 Chevrolet Malibu, owned by Lindsey Marie Whitehead, of Columbus, sustained functional damage and was towed from the scene.

• Freddie Lee Matthews, 36, of Dayton, was cited for failure to control following an accident Saturday at 11:20 p.m.

Matthews was southbound in the 11000 block of state Route 362 when he said something ran out in front of his car. The vehicle struck a guardrail end and then went across into the northbound lane. The vehicle then struck another guardrail.

The 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, owned by Teresa Marie Gurney, New Bremen, was disabled in the accident and towed from the scene.

Fire, rescue

TUESDAY

-5:21 a.m.: medical. Fort Loramie Rescue was called to the first block of Eastview Drive, Fort Loramie.

-2:55 a.m.: medical. Anna and Perry-Port-Salem Rescue were called to the 600 block of East Pike Street, Jackson Center.

MONDAY

-6 p.m.: medical. Anna Rescue was called to the Inn Between, 16488 County Road 25A.

-4:22 p.m.: smoke. Fort Loramie Fire was called to 12079 Thelma Drive on a report of smoke in the area. It was believed to be coming from burning leaves.

-3:26 p.m.: illegal burn. Fort Loramie Fire was called to the 12000 block of Thurman Drive in reference to an illegal burn.

-2:31 p.m.: field fire. Van Buren Township Fire was called to a field fire at 12707 Staley Road.

-1:10 p.m.: injury. Anna Rescue was called to the 10000 block of Amsterdam Road.

-12:06 p.m.: fire. Van Buren Township Fire responded to a nuisance burn at 13015 Luthman Road.

SUNDAY

-7:46 p.m.: medical. Houston Rescue was called to the 10000 block of Kaser Road.
