HOUSTON — The 2018 Scott Ayers Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Houston High School senior Chareasa Jeffries, daughter of Amy and Randy Esser.
The announcement of the $500 award was made during the annual Houston-UVCC banquet, April 15.
Jeffries was involved in Spanish Circle, National Honor Society, Environmental Club, basketball, Muse Machine and the school play. She was an active member in the FFA chapter, where she held the office of student adviser. Outside of school activities, she has also been active in 4-H, Shelby County Junior Fair and Head Start. She plans to attend the the Agricultural Technical Institute of the Ohio State University to study agricultural communications.
The scholarship was created in memory of Scott Ayers in 2005. Ayers was a member of the Houston FFA chapter and had a life-long love of agriculture. The scholarship is presented annually by his wife, Amy, and his children, Logan and Shelby.
