JACKSON CENTER — The Jackson Center Board of Education passed a motion to accept a $5,000 donation from the Jackson Center Tiger Boosters for outside athletic facility improvements at its regular monthly meeting on Monday, July 16.

The improvements include recently-completed cement pads poured around both the high school softball and baseball fields.

The board passed a motion to approve the service agreement with the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center for the 2018-2019 school year, and also approved the certification that Jackson Center Local Schools has adopted the nutrition standards that are set forth in the Ohio Revised Code.

Employment was approved for Erin Metz, as varsity assistant volleyball coach, and Iesha Lampy, as volunteer assistant cross country coach.

The board passed a motion to accept the financial report as presented. According to the report, if expenditures for the renovation project are removed, the district ends the fiscal year in a solid, net positive position.

Principal Jeff Reese provided an update for on-going discussion with staff in review of state test scores, in which work is continuing to identify areas of strength and potential improvement.

Superintendent Bill Reichert shared, on behalf of the maintenance group, that the exhaust fans have been installed where needed, summer cleaning continues and replacement step treads in the 2003 section are nearly complete.

Additionally, the walking paths around the sports field have been completed and work is on-going to solidify a section of ground in the area of the new track prior to the first paved layer being completed.
