FORT LORAMIE — After 29 rounds and 194 words, fifth-grader Austin Pleiman, son of Matt and Nicole Pleiman, was named the Fort Loramie Spelling Bee champion.

Pleiman correctly spelled the word, “tungsten,” in order to claim the title.

The runner-up was eighth-grader Nora Beresik, daughter of Marie Beresik. Both students will advance to the regional spelling bee in Lima.

The annual competition for fourth-eighth-grade students was Dec. 4 at Fort Loramie Elementary School. Frank Turner was the pronouncer, and the judges were Laurie Nosek and Lisa Schmiesing.
