SIDNEY — Two current college students were notified of scholarship awards recently through funds administered by the Community Foundation of Shelby County.

The Law Student Assistance Fund awarded a $3,500 scholarship to a Shelby County resident entering the final year of law school. Devon Alexander, of Anna, is attending the Capital University Law School. He is the son of Jeff and Lori Alexander.

The Law Student Assistance Fund was established by late Sidney attorney, Eugene Elsass. Applicants must be approaching their final year of law school. Students from Shelby County or a county abutting Shelby County may apply.

The Dr. Edward and Ann Link $2,500 Scholarship was awarded to a graduate of Sidney High School. Laney Shaw, daughter of Clint and Lacie Shaw, is enrolled in theater studies at Wright State University.

The Dr. Edward and Anne Link Scholarship Fund is available to Shelby County residents pursuing a major related to visual arts, performing arts and creative writing and who have completed at least one year of post-secondary education.

Online applications are available for these and many other scholarships through the Community Foundation website at www.commfoun.com beginning mid-December each year.
