NK schools to get new bus

NEW KNOXVILLE — New Knoxville Local Schools will have a new school bus following action by the board of education during its regular meeting, Dec. 21.

The board discussed whether to trade in one or two buses toward the purchase and approved the trade-in of one. The new bus will be a 72-passenger Bluebird, which will be sold by Cardinal Bus Sales & Service Inc. for a price of $86,385.

In other business, the board:

• Approved the hire of Craig Wenning and Elizabeth Bauer as substitute teachers, Sondra Thatcher as a bus driver and Bonnie Rismiller as a part-time cafeteria assistant.

• Accepted a $500 donation from Jeff and Linda Davis, half of which will support the art program and half, the band program.

• Set the date of the January organization and regular meetings of the board as Jan. 11, beginning at 7 p.m., in the school library, and appointed Ryan Miltner as president pro-tempore to preside at the organizational meeting.

• Renewed membership in the Ohio School Board Association for 2016.
