ANNA — On Dec. 5, the Anna FFA competed in the Food Science and Technology contest at the state level.

The members that competed were Briana Fanaff, Bekah Emerson, Tessa Beatty, and Nick Nolan. This contest consists of two parts, which include a food safety practicum and a practicum in sensory evaluation.

The food safety practicum requires students to analyze a customer complaint letter, identify food safety and sanitation problems in food production facilities, and identify types of equipment used to test food safety and quality. The sensory evaluation requires students do a triangle test with various food products, a flavor test, and an aroma test.

Anna’s team placed first at the district level and fifth at the state level. The Anna FFA congratulates its food science team and hopes to do well at the competition next year.
