VERSAILLES — Edison State Community College, the Miami Valley Veterans Museum and Versailles Schools will collaboratively present a salute to American war heroes, Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 12:30 p.m. at the Versailles High School auditorium.

Area veterans and their families are invited to attend and hear the stories of World War II veteran Harry Ashburn; Korean War veteran Don Earnest; and Vietnam War veteran John Looker. All are combat veterans and will share their accounts of the challenges and tragedies of war to a high school audience of 400 students.

Terry Purke, U.S. Army veteran and curator of the Miami Valley Veterans Museum, will show artifacts from those three wars in the museum’s History in a Box project prior to the program.

The band, Thien Snipps, led by Vietnam veteran Larry Dragosavac, will present a 30-minute concert of patriotic music.

Vietnam veteran Mel Shane will emcee the program, and Jennifer Sentman, Amy Carman and 10-year U.S. Marine veteran John Jackson, social studies faculty at the high school, are coordinators. Edison State student and veteran Sean Murphy will record the program for local distribution.
